The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved to provide interconnected VoIP providers, including cable operators, direct access to phone numbers from numbering authorities.
The service in currently on only wireless phones to directly access the assigned numbers. The trial have been done without reporting any problem.
It is being considered a migration of voice to an all-IP world.
The National Cable & Telecommunications Association did not file comments on the proposal because most cable companies have already figured out interconnection workarounds.
